Cuisinart Coffee Maker Water Filters are used in the Cuisinart Coffee Maker.  They filter the water before it goes through the heating element, making the heating element last longer and improving the taste of the coffee.  They are not a substitute for the coffee filters, which need to be purchased separately.

Amazon.com has the Cuisinart Coffee Maker Water Filters on sale for $3.85 for a set of two.  However, they then add on a $6.49 shipping fee, making the total price $10.34.  There is a Lowe's store near my home which will sell the same filters for $8.84 plus tax.  Tax in Michigan is 6%, which brings the total price of two filters to $9.46.

There are actually several sellers at Amazon.com who will sell the filters for less than that for a set of two, and several of them do not have a shipping charge.  The best of these stores charges only $7.89, with no shipping or handling costs, and also no sales tax.  The downside is that it takes 3-4 working days, which excludes Saturday and Sunday, for the part to be delivered.

Within my area, Lowe's is the only major store that sells this brand of coffee maker filters.  I did, however, find these coffee maker water filters available for a two pack on ebay for the price of $1.99 with no sales tax or shipping fee.  They shipped two-day air.

My least expensive option seems to be to order the coffee maker water filters from ebay, and then wait for two to three days for them to arrive.  Otherwise, my next least expensive option is to go to Lowe's and pick them up for $9.46.  This is one of those products which I need to think ahead for my purchase if I want to save money on it.  The best buy is on ebay, but if I needed the part immediately I would need to pick it up at Lowe's.

All the other options on Amazon.com, for example, either charged me more, or expected me to wait for up to two weeks for my purchase, or both.  I did find some six packs of filters for $19.99.  That seemed to be a standard price for that quantity; I found it on both Amazon and on ebay.
